Does the Virginia Residential Landlord and Tenant Act address lodger issues? Or even apply to lodgers? I mean, what if we, the homeowners no longer want to rent a spare room in our home, but the lodger/ roomer refuses to leave the premises? This is creating a very tense situation within my home. At the time, thought it would be a good idea for making a little extra money and wanted only to rent the room temporarily or short term. The lodger was fine with this since he says he only wanted to stay here for no more than 2 month, which was perfect and was agreed between everyone involved. Now we're financially 'ok' and only want the house back to ourselves but he just doesn't want to budge and is scaring my family. Can we pack his belongings and remove them from the room if he's not moved out by the end of the given notice? Also, there was no lease or anything between us, nor even a deposit, just a verbal agreement.
