Hi Myracle...

You cable back to back tubs exactly as you would cable a single tub. Here, after removing the overflow plate from one tub, you'll send your cable down the tub waste/overflow tube and snake out the drain. At about 20-24" into the overflow tube you'll run into resistance... that's the PTRAP... push on the cable while spinning the snake and you should negotiate through the trap pretty easily. After that, you'll usually only need to run out another 10 feet or so and should start to see the blockage clear.

Be sure to leave about 2 inches of water in the tub so you can see the blockage begin to clear when you hit the blocakge and so the water can start to wash the drain/debris down the drain. A bonus is that this will help to clean the snake on the way back into the snake drum... ;)

Finally, this will usually clear BOTH tub drains as the tub drains will join together after the ptraps connect to the tub. If necessary, or just to take the chance while you have the snake out, you can repeat these steps on the second tub, but it is not usually necessary to do that... usually??

A hand-held electric snake works best and can be rented at any tool rental store. For your own safety, wear leather gloves and goggles!

Back to you...

As Mark pointed out Back to back tubs usually employ a common drain. Snaking one will most likely clear both. However, if one tub's still clogged simply repeat the process. Good luck, Tom
