I currently work at the same location that I see my doctor at. My doctor referred me to another doctor because I needed surgery and he was not a surgeon. The surgery was a very private matter and only my family knew about it. I just found out from a lady in my church, that one of the nurses from my work was telling her at a party what kind of surgery I had, with my name and who I saw. The lady of course told me about it. She thought if I hadn't said anything, I probably didn't want people to know. She was right! I felt violated and my privacy feels pushed to the side. Am I right, isn't this a Hippa violation and should I let the doctor I work for know about this?

Yes, this is a HIPAA violation (not HIPPA). You should let the office manager (HR) know about this violation.
