I am not getting any water out of my hot water taps. The cold water taps are working just fine though. We have a gas water heater... only about 3.5 years old. The pilot light is on and working. Also the burner is coming on. Yet I still have no hot water. Because the water heater is not very old I am inclined to think that there must be another problem. We live in a very rural area and therefore are unable to get a plumber out for a few days. From what I can see online I am wondering if there is an airlock? I would really hate to replace the water heater just to find out that there was a different issue. Could someone please help. Thanks so much!

This is a confusing post.
No water or the hot water isn't hot?
Assuming water is not hot.
Is the water hot if you remove some from the drain?
How about the closest tap to the hot water heater?
There are two possibilities:
1) the dip tube (replaceable)
2) A single valve fixture is bad
But, need some answers to the above questions.

I am not getting any water out of my hot water taps. This should answer KISSes question,
No water or the hot water isn't hot?
OK! You have no water pressure in any of your hot water faucets at all. Am I correct? If so the first thing I would do is open the boiler drain at the base of the tank to see if I had pressure coming in. If you have pressure at the boiler drain then the inlet's clear.
So let's check the output side of the tank. If you have heat trap nipples , (see image)installed on the cold and hot inlets remove them and replace with brass nipples. If there's still a problem click on back and tell me about it. Good luck, Tom

Speedball:
Heading says " no hot water from taps" i.e. water isn't hot from hot water tap.
body says:
"I am not getting any water out of my hot water taps." i.e. No water flow from taps.
So, I'm confused. Still am.

For now, I am with KISS. Is the water coming out cold or is there no water coming out, big difference.
