We received a letter in the mail today from a lawyer about a store credit card from almost 10 years ago in my husband's name that apparently there was a judgement against him on and that if he doesn't pay they have the right to seize our car?

1. was this he debt ?
2. did they actually get a judgement, were you served notice and did he go to court ?
3. you need to check with the court to see if there is a real judgement.

*** what they can or can't do depends on the nation, and if the US, what state. In some places if they have a judgement, they can take some non exempt personal property, so yes it may be possible since his name is on it also.

Now most likely there is no judgement and they are lying to try and get you to pay on a bill outside of the SOL so it restarts the time frame. If they had a real judgement, they don't want a car, they want part of a pay check, they want your bank account, money not a car
