I have a 1993 jeep grand cherokee with a 5.2 liter.. right now it starts up, runs for a second and then stalls.. I can keep starting it as many times as I want, and evertime I do, it just stalls again. As if it is running out of fuel although I can hear the fuel pump work every time I turn the key to on. The other thing is that this problem has occurred before.. and then I leave the car for a few days.. and presto.. it starts right up no problem... then a few months later, the problem reoccurs.. any ideas?
Thanks,
Rob

If you can, try substituting another distributor--the internal pickup may be bad.

If it has a single coil it could be the resistor inside is bad. One way to check this is to hold the key in the start position after it starts. If it continues to run it is most likely that. CAUTION... only hold the starter engaged long enough to verify it continues to run. (less than 15-20 seconds) OTHERWISE STARTER & RING GEAR Damage CAN RESULT!!
