I've been very frustrated lately. Last fall I had a very large silver maple cut down in my front yard. I couldn't afford to have the stump ground at the time, but I have the money now. I've called 6 companies, including the guy who cut down the tree, and I am having such a hard time getting someone to finish the job.

At this point I'm so aggravated that I'm thinking of going to Home Depot and renting a stump grinder. Will the grinders they rent be able to handle a stump that's 5 feet in diameter?

It's just going to take multiple passes:

I am less optomistic. A 5' stump is huge and the rental grinders are not. Come to think of it I have never seen a 5' diameter Silver Maple.

I originally thought it was a swamp maple but someone that came to give me a quote swears that it was a silver maple. Either way it's pretty damn big.
