I have sewer odor on daily basis. I leave septic lid open and its not as bad but still there. Old type of sewer lines. 3 or 4 foot clay type. No water leaks anywhere. Is it possible that one of the joints could be leaking gases but not water? Is there any type of device to locate odor leak? Please send reply soonest. Thanks for info. Smell you later!

I need more details. Where's the smell? Inside or out? Be specific. What room?
The Terra-Cotta pipes outside. Are they the pipes that smell? Talk to me. Tom

Sewage smell

Not exactly terra cotta. Clay piping about 3 or 4 ft sections main sewer line leaves house in furnace room. Bathroom directly above smell is the worst there but eminates through rest of house. Newer washer (front loader) with 1 1/2 in drain. Also on same line as washer drain . In basement kitchen sink on same line as washer only upstairs . Not vent at sink .only in bathroom. French drains in perimeter of house but odor not coming from there. I still think it mite be one of those clay pipes. I thought about putting caulking around them and sealing up 11/2 in drain .also finding some type of seal for washer outlet house. It also has 1 1/2 peetrap. Thanks for any help you can provide. Caulk the clay pipe joints with roof cement and get back to me. Regards, tom
