View Full Version : What should I do if I want to extends intranet into extranet?

Hi everyone I am now in trouble... I want to extend my company intranet into extranet network... I mean now I am hosting my company website in my LAN server (Microsoft 2003 with web server) so all of the staffs within my intranet (LAN) can access that website very well... but now I want to extends my intranet into extranet. I mean I want not only the staffs in my company access the website that I host in my LAN server but also the customers who are outside of the company can access the website that I host in my LAN server while he or she can only access the internet anywhere around the world... So is it meant extends intranet into extranet?. Please help me can you tell me step by step to do that ? If you can't tell me step by step, it is okay to tell me what should I do and why I need to do that... Thanks in advance...

If you are using windows server, you set up the web services in IIS. You point the web to the IP that you are hosting from, and the files you are already using. Then you should secure enough bandwidth, get a static IP and a Domain Name, you can point the Domain Name to your static IP.

Probably. I have some questions for you first.
Do you have a static IP on your WAN side from your ISP?
What type of server/OS is hosting your intranet?
Do you have a public domain name (GoDaddy.com etc.)?
Do you know what IIS is?
