I had a great date today. Everything seemed to be going great. He hugged me hello, we had tons in common, he's cute, and our coffee date lasted over an hour. The weird thing was how we left it. He awkwardly said goodbye and then said "Email?" (as in, I'll email you)... Huh? To me, that seemed like an 'I'm not interested' thing to say. But he told me a lot of things you wouldn't tell someone you weren't interested in. And showed me pics of his beautiful daughter- someone he's very close to. I sent a quick text a few hours later saying I had a great time. He responded that he did too and wished me a good weekend. I kind of took it as a brush off. Am I overreacting? Guys views are also welcome. I know I'm being a bit of a spaz on this, but I really thought he had potential.

You're just projecting your own fear of rejection on to him.

Stop over-analyzing it will you?

Geez, you've met him once give the poor guy a chance and give yourself a chance. Chill a little - no one can tell you what he's thinking or feeling, let it unfold naturally instead of making a meal of it. What exactly do you expect on the first date that's going to indicate 'potential' - a proposal of marriage?

So he wants to email and find out more about you. Many guys
1. don't want to move fast
2. may be doing several first dates to see what type of spark there is
3. don't like to ( or hate) to text message.

So you email him in a few days

Okay. Thanks... Gemini, I think you hit the nail on the head. I have developed a nasty fear of rejection lately. I'm just used to a guy saying something like 'I'd like to see you again' or something along those lines at the end of a date. And, you are right, I overreacted because as you stated, I'm fearing rejection. I'm 36 and so when I meet someone I click with, it's like there's more on the line. I need to figure out why I'm acting so desperate. I've been feeling a bit lonely lately.
