The scatter rugs were all on one side during a spin cycle. The machine banged around. Before I could reach it, the machine stopped mid-spin. All cycles work now except spin. No spin at perm press, no spin at heavy duty settings--both attempted with lid down. Water does not drain. I siphoned it out.
I read all responses to other like questions but in my case there is no clicking, no smell, no draining.
Is it the timing switch? Is it the coupler?

After a more thorough examination, I found that the mechanism that allows the spin cycle to start when the lid is lowered and the pin trggers 'something'. That 'something' has broken off.
Question--I can't see how the broken off part would activate the remaining mechanism to start the spin cycle. If I could somehow activate it, I would be sure that that is the problem before I go to get a replacement part.

Any actuator will work for the lid switch, if you want to spend the money and have it perfect, you can go to an appliance shop and buy a replacement actuator or "pin". Or you could just run a bolt through it to push on the switch when the lid closes. Either way, it doesn't bypass the safety. As long as the spin stops when you raise the lid, you're good.

Thanks For Advice.
It's Fixed And Running Fine.
I Purchased A Lid Switch From Sears Parts Store And Installed It Last Night. It's Spinning Like Its Old Self Again.
