A local shelter has made a rescue involving 15 rabbits, it doesn't seem like a lot but our shelter cannot handle this amount of rabbits (They usually only get 1-2 a year) the rabbits will be euthinised in a short period of times if homes are not found. I am thinking of getting 2-3 just to help out, I know I won't be able to keep them, but I could always find homes once I have them. The "normal" shelter rules are not applying to these guys since they need homes now, (Our shelter has a rule if you get an animal there, and you don't want it anymore to return it, and since that rule is not inplace I can help get them a home) What do you guys think? Is this logical or am I jumping the gun?

My first question would be, are they fixed? If not, even a short time together will equal more then 3 rabbits.

Second question. Have you had bunnies before and do you have the necessary housing you'll need to keep them?

Here's my concern. Yes, you'll likely find homes for them. Rabbits are adorable, who doesn't like a bunny? The sad fact is that most people have no idea how to care for them, don't expect to spend money on vet care, won't put in the time, effort and money that's needed to have these animals. Finding them a home isn't hard, but finding a forever home is. Most bunnies that are adopted end up in the shelter or worse, they're set loose because people believe that any rabbit can fend for itself in the wild. One of my four bunnies went through this very thing.

In my area there was a home that was recently raided. In that home they found over 500 rabbits. All of them are now up for adoption, minus the few that had to be euthanized because of disease or extreme aggression.

This isn't an easy undertaking, and I applaud you for even considering it, but first, how much do you know about rabbits? They're not at all like any other animal out there. They need specific care.

If you decide to do this, I'm here to answer any and all questions you have. :)

If I was to adopt them the shelter would have them spayed/neutered before I am able to bring them home. Since it is only for a short time (I'm thinking a month or two) If I do this I'm going to get my grandpa to make a hutch for them. I have had a couple rabbits in my life, all female, so that is what I would adopt. I will not hand them out blindly and will try my hardest to make sure they go to a good home.
And I read about that raid! I have no idea how someone could live like that, I'm thinking 3 is going to be a handful, but 500? WOW!

Apparently the 500 plus bunny house is not fit for human or animal habitation at this time.

I can't imagine it.

Sounds like you've thought everything through. I think it would be great if you can do this, it would save 3 little lives that may not otherwise have a chance.

Of course you know I'll want pictures. ;)

I'm going to go on eiuthanization day, that way if all of them are placed then I don't need to do this,
