I never knew much about my father. He died in 2002. He was adopted at birth in Oregon and I would like to know about his and my origins. Is it possible to get his birth records as his daughter?

Probably not. Unless you have a compelling medical reason to do so, courts are VERY reluctant to open adoption records.
Please remember that the promise made to birthmothers from the early part of the twentieth century through the 1980s when open adoption was just starting to happen was that NO ONE would know their secret.
His origins are with his adoptive family, and you may want to get as much information as you can from them.
You could register on reunion websites, but depending on how long ago his adoption happened, the odds of someone connecting with you are pretty low.
Your only other real option is to hire a private detective--but again, depending on how long ago it was, you may not get much information, and that route gets very expensive very quickly.

That's what I thought. My query is also medical; I don't know what he died from or his history so have no idea what could be genetic for me but I have a feeling that's not compelling enough for a judge. Thanks though.
