Resident of MA. Worked in MA and GA for the same employer. W2 federal copy Box 15 states 'TOTAL STATE' and shows the total tax paid. TurboTax is asking for individual state income. W2 GA copy shows partial income and the tax paid. W2 MA copy shows all the income and the tax paid. TurboTax is adding up the total incomes from MA and GA which is not right. The income shown in W2 MA copy is the total income I made and the Federal copy of W2 shows the same amount. Which one is right? Please help.

I wonder if perhaps you told TT that you were a part year resident of MA and GA - so it wants to know your earnings during the times you lived in each state. But your employer gave you a W2 that says you were a resident of MA for the entire year, but worked part time in GA as a non-resident. Assuming that you are still a MA resident, I suggest that you go back into the interview section of TT and make sure that you tell it you were a full-year resident of MA but also worked (but did not reside) in GA. Then what happens is TT should calculate GA taxes owed as a non-resident (which will be taxes only on your GA income), and then MA taxes based on your total income for the year- and then it should calculate a credit for taxes paid to other jurisdictions (namely GA) so that you don't get taxed twice by MA on that GA income.
