My father died March 2009 and he left some bills behind. He signed the house over to my wife and I in 2007. Right now the house is badly damaged and we cannot live in it because of Hurricane Katrina. We tried to get a loan but my fathers creditors have placed his debts on my credit report. Do we have to pay for his cell phone bill, utility bills and cable bills? If so Does his creditors have the right to place his debts on my credit report?

All of his assets would go into his estate, things like money left in bank, furniture, a car and they would be sold to pay outstanding debts.

The creditors will try in court most likely to show that the house was given to avoid paying them and will try to get a lien on it most likely.

As for his debts, unless you signed, you need to dispute his debts and have them removed from your report.
