Violation of HIPAA disclosure between child's school & Physician's office? Is this situations a Hipaa violation?

Violation of HIPAA disclosure between child's school & Physician's office? Is this situations a Hipaa violation? Can the doctors office give the school my daughter's information? Do I have legal rights to all correspondance between school and physician's office? (letters, faxes, phone call documentation etc.. )

It depends on what type of information was released. What did the doctor's office tell the school?

I don't see why you wouldn't be allowed to know what's going on with your child, but if the doctor is contacting the school, you should already be aware of it. Are you able to give us some more information?

You will have to give more info on what was given out.


There are reasons to give out info, to government agenies. So we need more info.
