I was just reading the subject of child abuse being promoted, covered up, condoned and protected by the Catholic Church and low and behold - the thread was locked.

One aswer from Catholics are "You do not understand the church"

This is a weak and disgusting argument. Children's lives are affected forever and all you have to say is they do not understand the church.

Another answer is: "It is just as bad in Protestant Churches"

Just is a stupid argument. Catholics claim they are the only true church and then they admit they are as bad a the Protestant church.

Another answer is: it is also common in Karate teachers and Scout leaders.

This is a disgusting and pointless argument. The Catholic church should be well and far above the conduct of Scout leaders, school teachers, Karate instructors, motor mechanics, bikies etc.

BUT it is clear that the Catholic Church, by Catholic's own admittion, is no better than any other human organisation, thereby, they are obviously not the church lead by Jesus Christ.

They are so sick of people pointing out their filth, and their only solution is to shut the discussion down.

Their solution, if they loved children, in a non-sexual way of course, is to leave the church.

When it comes to religion, people [most of the time] are quick to jump on the defense. No matter what your asking, from "Why do priests touch kids?" to "Okay, so there was a talking donkey in the bible?! ".

There are never factual answers when it comes to religion. There is always a [what I call it] a "biblical excuse". "It was Satan" "He was posessed by a demon" "It's the change of times, the lord is coming soon" "We are being tested". Blah blah blah...

However these are the answers that I always get when I question a religious person.

You see Adult Sexuality threads be dragged on and on and on but religious threads get shut down quick. I try to stay out of this area not only because I think God and the bible are complete crud, but I think there are too many God believing folk out here to actually get any "good" answers.

.. well that's just my opinion.

Posts that violate site rules are closed, posts that attack the faith of any denomiation, from Islam, to Mormons to Baptist or Catholic are normally deleted.

We respect the faith and beliefs of all faiths and attacking any faith is not allowed.

Most posts attacking any religion group are normally done out of hate fro that group rather than any real question.

All abuse , physical violence , sexual abuse , verbal abuse ,against man or beast , young or old , is antisocial criminal behavior & outside the law in all civilized lands & , as such , must be dealt with by the police immediately & fearlessly . To not report such acts to the police is also a crime . Church law must be kept within the walls of the churches & not be allowed to hide crime &/or interfere in criminal matters . State & church must be kept separate . Just take a look @ countries which still follow the medieval pattern of church=politics [ & no secular thinking thank you or off-with-your-head. ]... Also , churches should pay tax & there should be no church schools... tradjazzman
