The fridge is by Whirlpool and is over 10 years old, is it time to get a new one? I am very concerned that the leaking water may cause even more trouble, electricity wise and a fridge shouldn't leak water in the inside. Thanks.

If its got an icemaker turn off the water to it.

You have to determine if its actually a leak or condensation.

Odds are its time... but if its something as simple as door weatherstripping and cash is tight you can fix what's wrong to buy you some time.

If you have to pay someone to do it, then its time to buy a new one. Efficiency levels are up from what they were so replace may be better than repair.

This is typically due to the defrost control going bad. In my experience (in the US) this is a $200 (give or take) repair.

If there is a local appliance repair person who will give you a free estimate for the repair, then I highly suggest that.

Otherwise, since your fridge is 10 years old, this may be the good time to consider a new one. The typical life of a good name brand fridge is 15-20 years.
