View Full Version : Why won't my furnace work?!

Hi. I have an ICECO weatherking Heater/AC that isn't working.
Model 90RJ06EES01
Hot Surface Ignitor (no pilot)
Natural Gas

I tried to replace the thermostat without really knowing what I was doing and now I'm regretting it. I didn't hook the wires up correctly so it blew cold air out before turning hot. I eventually figured out the wiring problem, but in the mean time the power was OFF to the furnace while the gas was ON (oops). There was no smell of gas and I think it automatically shut off.

Now that I have it hooked up correctly it won't work at all. No sound, no blower, no heat. This is true even if I hook it up like it was before. I also tried to directly jumper the red and white wires which also did nothing. I think there must be a safety shut off, but I can't tell if there is a reset button. I can't find anything in the documentation about a reset.

The hot surface ignitor seems intact. There are no visual problems that I can see.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Look for a small 3amp car type fuse on the control board. In the bottom door of the furnace. This may have blow if wire incorrectly

The second photo is a closeup of the top right of the board. Is that what you're talking about? When I pull it it's just plastic covering a metal clip... sorry that I'm so ignorant.

Looks like your control board does not have a fuse. You can follow the wire back to the transformer. Should say 24 volt or maybe xfmr. There may be a inline fuse, of smell the transformer it may have burnt.

Yep, look for an inline fuse between the 24v side of transformer and board. Let us know what you find. Pics definitely help.

Thanks for the responses. I attached a picture of the whole system. Nothing here that screams fuse to me. Is the thing directly attached to the transformer a fuse (pic 2)? Are there fuses in the wire attachment clips (pic 3)

I looked the faq sticky in more depth and I believe this is the inline fuse... Right?
I'm wary to unscrew anything without being sure (once bitten... ), but will I be able to tell if it's blown by looking? Do I need to buy a multimeter?

I see no fuse anywhere. Your bottom picture is your transformer. You should have 115 volts going in on the black and white. And 28 volts out on the red and yellow

Ok... Any other ideas about how I should proceed? Thanks again for all of your help.

Do you have a volt meter? Check for 24 volts at the yellow and red wire from the transformer.

Ended up calling a repair man. Replaced the transformer (blown) but the replacement blew too because of a bad contactor. Replaced both and now the unit is running fine.

Thanks for the update. Glad you got it working.
