Yard machines 5 hp B&S engine tiller. I was tilling - suddenly it stopped and let out smoke. I tucked it away. A couple of days later - noted low oil - got new oil and added. Tried to turn the cranking pull rope but the crank was stiff as rock. What to do? Help need to till. Sorry not a engine expert-just a user,

Unfortunately, it can be a number of things:
1. Jammed recoil starter
2. Jammed mechanism on the output side
3. Engine damage because of the low oil.

Pull the plug. Remove the blower housing. And try to move the engine with a socket clockwise and counter-clockwise.
