I recently caught one of my roommates used one of my makeup products. It's... a microfinished powder (http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P210400&categoryId=C13402), which goes on top of foundation and is made of 100% silica. At the time, she had big cold sore above her lip. Is there anyway that the virus could transfer into my makeup, and contaminate it? She used her own personal brush with the powder. Is it... still safe to use?? Can the virus die after a certain period?

I have no idea if any of this is possible. I have never had any sort of cold sore and would REALLY DISLIKE getting one..

Thanks!

(not sure which cateory to post this question under... )

Cold sores are a virus and are very contagious. I would personally throw it out. Never share lip balms or share glasses. More than 50% of the population has this virus so be cautious

You should clean your brushes, and probably throw it out, because she had an infection and they it came in contact with your product. Try using alcohol wipes for cleaning makeup if someone uses it, but try not to share makeup, it's just not healthy.
