Hello Atlanta Tax Expert,

I got two W2 forms in 2009. One from the current employer which is correct and other from the previous employer which is incorrect.

Initially previous employer sent me W2 for wages $22757 the federal withholding $1429.71 in which my wages are incorrect and federal withholding is correct. They sent this W2 by running paystub for 1 month extra which I haven’t worked for them (added my gross to wages but haven’t showed withholding). I sent mail to my previous employer saying the same.

Now they had sent me the new W2 form in which wages they showed as $18174 (which is correct) and the federal withholdings as $688.71 which is clearly incorrect, because my last paystub shows my YTD federal withholdings as $1429.71

Could you please suggest me how to file 2009 tax returns with one correct W2 form (Current employer) and other incorrect W2 form (previous employer)? I have very less time to ask my previous employer once again and get the corrected W2 and I don’t think they will give the correct W2, because it’s clear showing that they did some manipulation with my taxes.

Thanks

KISS

There is an IRS form that you can file for an incorrect W2. I know it's hard to find, but it does exist. I had to use it once.
Look at Internal Revenue Service (http://www.irs.gov).

File for extension. With extension, pay tax due based on income and withholding, which you feel is correct.
Get your employer to issue amended W-2.
