Hi, if a processor says that it is 2.8 GHZ and on the specs of the processor it says it has 4 cores, does this mean that the total speed is 11.2 GHZ.

If it is any help the exact processor is Intel® Core i7-860 2.8 GHz

As a quick and dirty calculation it's useful, but not correct.

You speed is actually 2.8 GHz, but you can split any work over 4 separate computer cores.
Intels i7 is it's latest and greatest CPU.

What's the context of your question ?

I wanted to know for game playing, for example games which require 3.33GHZ I wanted to know if I could play them using this processor. Another mini question, is a quad core the same as above

3.33 Ghz what ?
The processor type is important.

This site is very useful for checking your machine out: Can You Run It (http://cyri.systemrequirementslab.com/CYRI/intro.aspx)

Sorry to be a pain but if you could

Would you be able to tell me how a i7 processor with 2.66GHZ would be able to run games that are suggested 3.0GHZ pentium 4
Is this because of the different processors

Easily.
P4's are single core yet you have FOUR to bring to bear. Also different architecture and methods of processing data.

Check out the link I posted as it's very useful.
