I had an extensive root canal done on March 11, on a bottom molar. I had NO pain at all after the procedure, and was able to chew/eat just fine on that side. Two weeks after that, I had a temporary crown put on. Within 24 hours, I started having a lot of pain when I bit down (even when chewing/eating on the opposite side). I went in and the dentist adjusted my bite, and that seemed to help. But within a couple of days after that, I am still experiencing pain when I bite down. Even though I had a root canal done, the tooth itself just aches and throbs. It is very sensitive and just throbs when I barely press on the tooth, either on the top or the sides. I have no idea what is causing so much pain?

I'm not exactly sure what is causing the pain either. Usually the adjustment takes care of the problem. You should go back and have the dentist check to see if perhaps the root is cracked. It's best that the permanent crown not be cemented in until the problem is solved and the tooth doesn't hurt any longer.
