My dsaughter saw a sign that said, segopalm trees are bad for dogs, if they chew them. Is that fact? If so what can you do?

Here are some articles I found.

Any type of stick has the potential to harm your dog.
If your dog is chewing a piece of wood, or even pine bark they can get small splinters off and swallow them, which can easily pierce vital organs or cause blockages.
My yard is a stick-free zone.

Do you have this particular type of tree in your backyard?
If so perhaps you could block of the trunk of the tree with a small fence to prevent the dog from getting to it.

Sago's are VERY dangerous, and will kill your dog if they ingest the seeds. I think even the root is poisonous.
