I just moved into a new place that is about 4 years old - today I went into the water closet area in the ensuite and flicked on the fan and it suddenly went out.

The light and the outlet are not working as well. The rest of the bathroom lights work as well as the bedroom lights and outlets.

I checked the breakers and they are all all right - any ideas here is appreciated.

When I have experienced outages like that it is usually related to a GFCI somewhere in the line that was tripped. Check all of yours to make sure they are reset. Otherwise, get a meter and try to trace the circuit run, find the last known hot point and work from there.

If the circuit continues from the GFCI off the protected side, anything after it will be protected and go out when the GFCI is tripped.

Did you just look at the breakers, or try turning them? Sometimes a breaker will be off and not look off. You have to turn it all the way to off, and then back on. A GFCI protected outlet should be marked GFCI, but may not be. Sometimes they have the same rectangular face plate as the GFCI.
