I have a 4 month old lab who loves to chew on rocks, we have bought him every chew toy possible but he loves to bring in rocks from outside. Should I allow this? Is chewing on rocks bad for him? Any help is appreciated.

I hope you don't have any rock landscaping areas. As he grows, he will be able to gulp down larger and larger rocks and choke or have an intestinal blockage as the first poster warned. This could be a problem, and it is difficult to clear the yard of rocks. Do the best you can of the ones about a inch big. I have toured the clinic of a large dog guide school. They are always careful to point out the collection of things they have removed from dogs to the people raising puppies for them. It always has a few rocks.

As he acquires more of his adult teeth, I would be careful about letting him wear them down or break chewing rocks.
