I recently aerated my lawn because it desperately needed it as it was not draining at all anymore. It is the end of March here in NJ and I know that the ideal time to aerate would have been back in the late fall, however I couldn't get it done. My delimna is what should I do next since my lawn has thinned out pretty badly because of a lot of moss. I want to Overseed my lawn, but I know that I need to get this moss under control, and because of the late aeration I'm probably going to have a strong crabgrass outbreak this season, and all of the fertilizers on the market doesn't advise me to to seed for 3-4 months after using their moss control or crabgrass preventer products. Please let me know what you think my next step should be.

After aerating, use a straight moss control (Scotts Moss Control Granules works great!) This will kill the moss in 1-2 weeks and you can seed once the moss is dead. Then when you plant your grass seed, use a fertilizer containing Siduron (Scotts Starter Fertilizer Plus Crabgrass Preventer) This will allow your seed to germinate, while still preventing the crabgrass from coming up for 4 weeks!
