I got my 2010 Tax Refund without First time home buyer credit. I checked IRS website for the status and it said they sent a letter requesting more information. Is this usual? Do they give federal tax return first if they need more information for first time home buyer credit? I sent all the documents but I don't know what else they need. Thanks.

I know a little about this: my mom is a phone representative for the IRS, and I too am buying a home for the first time--I just heard this afternoon that offer has been accepted, yay! She said the FTHB tax credit isn't processed like a normal refund and that it will be given out months after you file. So, figure that you should receive the credit well into summer.
Your best bet is to call the IRS and ask, but be nice! My mom might be on the other end. :)

Did you include a copy of your final settlement statement and the appropriate homebuyers credit form?

Good questions, JayKid.
The $8,000 FTHBC has a REAL HIGH potential for fraud, so the IRS will take extra precautions to make sure those who apply are entitled to it.
