For my birthday I am flying from Nebraska so that way me, my best friend, and 4 of my girl cousins can go to Vegas for 4 days. My best friend has a 5 month old son and she is separated from the baby's father, but he told her that if she leaves the baby with him for 4 days he will call the police and tell them that she abandoned the baby because he doesn't want to watch his son for 4 days alone. I want to know if that is possible cause I don't want my best friend to get in trouble on my behalf.

I don't think that it's abandonment if he is willing to watch the baby but, if he's not willing to watch the baby, then the baby probably won't be watched. Also, does the father have any custody? If he doesn't, and he calls in that the mother left the baby, there will probably be problems...

Are those the fathers visitation days? If not does she have anyone else that can watch the baby? Like her mom or sister or something? If one of them is willing to watch the child then it isn't abandonment. However, if the father is unwilling to watch the child he can not be forced to and if she is told up front that he does not want to have him then yes, he could cause trouble for her if she leaves the baby anyway.

Is there anything from the courts as far as paternity or visitation already set up ?
