I received court papers for my 19yr old and we haven't seen the father in 11yrs, after receiving very few payments over the yrs, including a few over the last 2 months, he's requesting a paternity test. My child is not handling this well, he says to me,"just let him keep his money". What can I do?

I don't know that he can question paternity after this long; I know my state has a statute of limitations on that. However, he can claim that he "just found out" that you weren't faithful or something along those lines.

There's really not much to "do" at this point. Have your son take a DNA test - either it will say your ex is the father, or it will say he's not.

Stepping aside from the legal aspect of this, I don't know why you told your child about this. Is the court requesting a DNA sample from him?
