Snapper rider (6 yrs old) Manual start - When I disconnect the kill wire at the coil the 11HP B&S will start and run just fine and then I have to choke it so that it will quit running. Now when I reconnect the kill wire to the coil it will not start. There are some safety switches (brake, seat, ignition key switch, etc.). Any clues as to what could be causing the problem with the kill wire attached to the coil. Other quick check ideas?
Check your brake switch this is common one to stop it from starting.
Try jumping you switches one at a time until you find the bad one.
But replace the bad one don't bypass it
Safety first.

DG,
Another bit of information is that when I pulled the Key Switch and checked across the connection with the Key in both positions my multimeter showed open in both the ON & OFF positions. I presume this to be a bad switch so, can you tell me when it should show continuity and could this be the reason why the kill wire on the coil has to be disconnected for the motor to start? Thanks for your previous post Mr. DG
Sounds like the key switch could be going to ground.
Some switches have a g on the ground terminal .if not find the black wire coming to it.
There should be an I terminal which is ignition or possible yellow wire
With the key off it should show a path , with on no path.
Luck.
