Attending ceremony in Jamaica what to wear

Ask the couple what would be appropriate - It depends on whose wedding it is and what they have planned. For example, a Jamaican couple might be fairly casual and a pair or khaki slacks and a linen shirt, open collar, might be fine for such a wedding. But if the couple is traditional and American, you might need a suit and tie. I've been to beach weddings where people wore burmuda shorts, and to beach weddings where people wore evening gowns and tuxedos (without shoes!)...

Is it a formal wedding or not, merely being in Jamaica does not mean it is at the beach in sorts.
