2. In a home or RHU delivery, the child manifests yellowish discoloration of the skin and eyes on the 4th day. The mother is so worried and asks you if the child should be brought to the hospital. What should you as the nurse explain to the mother? What is your plan of action? Discuss it.

We won't do your homework for you...

What do you think is the cause of yellowing of the skin and eyes?

Hint... think of the liver and a term that begins with "j"...

We will be glad to look at your answers and talk about them...

I know the plan of care, I've discussed this with patients. I've also done my own nursing homework with no help from anyone other than my study group.

With that said, once you get your answer, we will be happy to help fine tune it. And yes, the word does begin with a "j."

I will give you a hint though. This condition is much more alarming if it happens within the first 24 hours after birth.
