Hi,

I have L1 visa and my wife has L2. I have SSN but my wife doesn't. I'm filing a federal tax return and applying for an ITIN (W-7 form) for my wife. Once IRS issues her ITIN they will assign it to my tax return and process it. My question is: How about my state tax return? Colorado also requires a SSN or ITIN for my wife. Should I wait for IRS to mail it to my home then I can use it in my state tax return? Thanks. Alex

Yes; wait until you get her number before filing State returns
