I got pregnant 5 years ago. Am not married with the guy nor living in together. He just came to my house every night after work, we had a smooth and nice relationship that time when suddenly after 2 years we broke up and separated. For awhile he supported my child that's less than a year of financial assistance from him. But, eventually he stops and he's telling me that since you're getting assistance from me meaning you cannot support the baby alone so I might be getting her instead in which I answered NO to his request of course am the mother the child should be with me. Since then I never asked any penny from him and he never cares at all. Even our child's birthday, he never gave any. And now, the child is going to school now that's why I decided to try soliciting advices from the others if I can still get back to him ask for a financial support. The last time I heard from him, he told me that he's married already and that he can't provide any support to our child. Please help me, what will I do?

The only way you're going to get anything from him is to take him to court and get an order for child support. You'll probably have to submit to a DNA test to establish paternity. But once an order of support is entered you'll have lawful means of collecting from him, including but not limited to garnishing his wages and/or intercepting his tax returns.

Get legal help to file a petition with the court asking for financial support. If his name is on the birth certificate, it will be easier because he will be presumed to be the father. If you cannot afford an attorney, I would suggest you contact family services in the county where you and the child reside and ask them for resources and advice. They should be able to provide some assistance to you.
