I have a Amana 5 ton heat pump (model rhe60c2a) that trips the out door high pressure switch every time it snows. Now I think my switch is worn out because it doesn't click when you push the reset and when you push it the unit starts up and runs for about 1 second. Where can I get a switch and can I splice it in the wire harness. Also can I run the a/c to get all the freon in the inside unit, close the valves and open the system to replace the switch or is there a schrader valve on the line to the switch?

All that sounds good but when you pump all the refrigerant into the condenser and remove the pressure switch you are allowing moisture laden air into the lines of the system (non condensable). The unit line set will still need to be pumped down with a vacuum pump to do the job correctly. The switches should be available on the net. Do a Google search with your model number for a supplier that will sell to you.
