Well its always hard to explain these situations and not get too drawn out, especially when your a newby to the furnace world. I guess I start from the beginning and go from there. We were using our furnace just fine, well the thermostat was a pain or so I thought. We would have to continually start and stop the thermostat to get it to engage. I thought this was a thermostat problem but I have found out its not. I changed the thermostat and now it will not cycle at all. I hear humming like its searching but nothing. That's about how far it gets... this furnace is a gas direct igition furnace. A buddy and me have been trying to firgure it out and we thought it might be the iginiter, changed that, and no we didn't touch it with our fingers. That did not fix the problem either. Now, help me to understand the way this works:

1. induction fan/switch would be the first thing to engage
2. this would in turn start the rest of process for the igition to happen

I don't see the induction fan ever trying to fire up. Is there a way to test the fan to see if its functioning? I've already bought a part and it did not fix the problem. Times are hard and I can't afford a technician. Seems all the people that I knew that were in the business aren't around anymore. So any suggestions? Hoped I explained this to where it makes sense.

Nordyne gas direct iginition furnace MODEL #MMHA070AAHR-05 (1996)?
