I am on probation for a dui I got last June. Two weeks ago I got another dui. I realized I have a major alcohol issue and checked into rehab a week ago. I hired a attorney to represent me for the second dui which was obviously a probation violation. I have to check in with my probation officer on the 18th and will not be there. My attorney said they would contact her on the 16th to advise her of the new charge and my location. Several people have told me it may be in my best interest and prevent being revoked if I contact her myself and advise her of the new charge and what I'm doing. Any advice on this?

You should have notified them the day after you were arrested for the 2nd DUI. The longer you wait, the worst it can be. And at this point you don't have the PO approval to miss a metting.
Also if you moved, the time to tell PO that was before you moved, not after. So that is a violation just in and of itself.
But since you hired an attorney, you need to follow their advice, but the attorney new you had never told them about the DUI and moving ?
But lets see
1. moving and not telling them
2.DUI two week ago
3. missing scheduled meeting
All three are violations in and of thierself
