I strongly advise you contacting a health care professional as I am not.
There have been reported drug interactions between metoprolol and aspirin. Aspirin (Anacin, Ascriptin, Bayer, Bufferin, Ecotrin, Excedrin) is otherwise classified as an NSAID: non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs which are contraindicated with the use of metoprolol. A complete listing may be found here:
NSAID list: NSAIDs (http://www.lyberty.com/encyc/articles/nsaid.html)
On a more personal note. I was prescribed metoprolol and a med. That contained acetaminophen 325mg. With no adverse effects.
Hope this helps.

I had a mild heart attack 8 years ago. My cardiologist prescribed a regimen of metroprolol and ecotrin. I was taking that daily for 7 years with no ill effects. I only stopped because I lost my job and health coverage for a while. I expect to resume it as soon as the health coverage for my new job kicks in. I also took Advil for pain during that time, again with no ill effects.
Of course each person is different and your experience may vary. If you are on Met, it was prescribed by your physician. You should be asking him these questions. You can simply call with a quick question, or maybe your physician has an e-mail address you can send the question to.
