Hi,

There are major scratches on the name plate of my front door (please see attached) from the previous owner. It definitely needs to be replaced, but I am wondering if there's any way to restore it, or make it look better, without replacing it?

I live in a condo and the strata council has confirmed that they have to replace it, but it has been 1.5 year and nothing has been done. I have been calling and calling and nothing helps, so I'd like to do something myself.

Thanks a lot.

Lock set appears to be a TITAN, made by Kwikset.

Got to web page below or call 1-800-327-5625. May be covered under warranty.

The plate has a coating not unlike a lacquer finish, this finish has been damaged somewhere in the past, only way to fix this would be to remove it and have a plating company resurface it... or replace it with a new plate, locksmiths can do this in no time flat.

Hi, I checked with a locksmith, and he told me that locksmiths don't do this kind of tasks. He also said that this kind of name plates need to be mass produced (not just one or two), because I've got my unit number on the plate (my picture didn't show it). However, he couldn't give me any suggestion on where to look. Does anyone know what kind of business I would look under the yellow pages for this kind of work? Thanks a lot!

Your in a major city aren't you?

There has to be brass plating companies,or trophy shops(they have metals like what you are looking for)Look for a metal stamping company, this piece is so small, they might have one this size just right at hand.

Ask them if they can put the number on it,or go to the trophy shop for the numbering, etc.

Thanks KBC. I called a brass plating shop nearby and they want to look at it first, so I will visit them and show them my pic.

Thanks KeepItSimpleStupid for the link. Haven't been able to find such services here though, but I will ask around.

For some reasons they don't let me rate/comment on your responses. Thanks for your help!
