Hi all,

I think that I carry sometimes low-self esteem and my confidence starts to shatter if people starts to dominate me, starts finding faults regularly or keeps ragging,

I am not an out spoken person and don't talk back very frequently, probably a fear for something, for e.g
If my boss starts helling which is hurting my ego, I think if I speak out I might lose my job, just don't take a chance.

Can anybody help?

Regards
Jason,

It is horrible to be on the receiving end of a bully, which is what your boss is. He has power and control over you, and uses it to dominate, undermine, and keep you 'in your place'. Bullies in the workplace is something that has been long in addressing.

You cannot change him. But, you can find another job. Even if it pays less, you will be a lot happier.

There is a lot of information online about bullies. Here is a good general overview.

Start with reading this guide: Building Self-Esteem: A Self-Help Guide (http://www.athealth.com/Consumer/disorders/self-esteem.html)

The you can check out these books: The Guide to Self-Help Books – Recommended Self-Help Books - Self-Help Book Reviews (http://www.books4selfhelp.com/)

One of the best ways to increase your self-esteem is being more open and interacting with more people. The more experience you have with interaction, the more things that you figure out about yourself. As a result, you will be more comfortable when communicating with others, even with difficult people.

I can't give you any better advice than Jake and I wish. Take their advice and you'll see it will get better. I had a supervisor and I always believe she rode a broom to work. People like her and your boss let a little power go to their head. You hang in there now.

Respect and self-esteem are earned, cultivated. You become confident by being successful. Show your boss that you can do the work then smile. It will drive him crazy. I f he truly is a bully, don't let him get away with it. This will build confidence. If it costs you the job, so be it, you weren't going to stay anyway.

There are work place bullying laws. Look them up! Don't let anyone push you around. YOU HAVE RIGHTS and if you don't have to make yourself ill worrying about this. Nobody but you can make yourself confident. You can do it. Find those WORKPLACE BULLYING RULES and let your boss know you have rights! Good Luck

Make a list of ten things that are good things about yourself, if you have a problem getting the list together ask a close friend to add to your list.

When you are feeling like you say take out the list and read it. You could keep it in your wallet.
