GEQ8811PWO dryer was just repaired for blower wheel all chewed up (cost $133.00) . Repaired on 11/11/06 has 30 day warranty, my question is, now its starting to vibrate & make noise again not as loud yet. Should I pay to have it repaired again ( I know he will say I droped something down there) or replace? If replacing, I want a quiet, good drying time, appreciate advice on what type to buy, maybe the lint trap being in the lower part of dryer is the cause?

Thanks,

What is the condition of the new blower wheel? Is it chewed up again? If so, you must determine why this keeps happening.

If the blower wheel seems to be fine, then I might suspect the motor is getting ready to fail.

If the fins of the blower wheel are covered in lint, then make sure your lint screen is in good shape.

Just found why this keeps occurring... a squirrel is chewing it up, my husband checked it all out (vent etc) found walnuts and other debri in the vent. He fixed the opening, had it repaired again. I'm washing ALL the clothes as I'm not sure he can keep the squirrel out!! Thanks for your input, we agreed as you said to check as to why it continued to happen. Now we are looking for traps, etc. guess fox urine (someone suggested) dosen't really work to keep them away.

Thanks,
Joanna

Hehe

That's kind of funny, by irony. You see, that blower wheel is sometimes referred to in the trade as a "squirrel wheel". Just because it kind of resembles a hampsters wheel.

That tickled me.

You might try building a chicken wire or mesh wire box around the dryer vent outside to keep critters out. Don't use a fine screen, as it will just acumulate lint and stop up.

Keep in mind that if you build a cage around the outlet, it will need to be cleaned every so often as lint will build up on it.
