Lost job in 06, finally took early social security, only income. Collectors calling 8 to 10 times a day. Can not pay debt. They are demanding and have threatened to seize my home and car (Florida homesteaded and car is 12 years old) What can I do?

They can threaten to take your assets and usually do threaten to take your furniture, house, cars, utility shed, clothing, etc. it is really quite amusing, but in essence can only freeze your bank account if they get a judgment. So I suggest if you have any automatic deposits coming in to your bank account, you cancel them and have payments sent to your home.

Many will threaten to have you put in jail, that the two truck is coming now to get your car and worst.

Write them and tell them not to contact you any further on this debt. That will buy you some quiet time from calls till they sell it to another collection firm.
