M son is handsome, popular, smart beyond his years, has a new card, brand name clothes,
Worries about his grades constantly, although his grade point average was 3.42 end of last semester and he was invited to join honor society. I never see him smile. He's very bashful, and sky, and all of his friends have girlfriends, could that be the missing link?

I personally think that there is nothing wrong with your child. He is just very focused on his career and wants to achieve really good grades to succeed. As a parent you can always talk to him and may be ask him if he is happy or not. I don't think if he is in a relationship that would make a difference. If he is not ready to be in a relationship that is his choice. It seems to me that he is very goal oriented and that is the reason he has limit himself to certain things like having fun etc, going for movies. May be as a parent you can explain it to him that once in a while if he does stuff other than worrying about his grades it will actually do him good in a long run as it will build upon his confident which is very important to have aside from good grades. Explain it to him that employers these days not look at the grades they also look at other activities and being in a social environment reflects upon personality.

He might need a bit of more direction to put him at ease.
Good luck
