Need to know the name of a movie,I believe the movie was made in 70's or 80's. The setting is around 1940's or 50's. An italian man migrates to america in New York on 4th of July day. He starts a family and builds his american dream. He starts a business selling televisions. Later his children take over the business and expand it into appliance store, they succeed it becomes a huge appliance business. The grandson accidentally starts a fire in the appliance warehouse and burns the business. The family takes a loss, because they didn't have insurance. At one point in the movie the same grandson gets in trouble by his teacher because, he asks improperly 'can I go to the bathroom' instead of 'may I go to the bathroom'. The school notifies the family, the grandpa goes to school to find that his grandson didn't do anything wrong. The grandpa doesn't understand why his grandson got in trouble, he argues with the principal and says "what's the difference between may i or can i? In my old country no child would get in trouble for such thing". I believe he loses one of his son or daughter in law (dies), I can't remember. End of movie, the setting is around 1970's or 80's, the grandpa ends up in the elderly care center and his grandson who's a grown man visits his grandpa along with his son .
