My dog is only 4 months old with kennel cough and my vet gave her Baytril for an antibiotic. He stated that in a growing dog it could cause damage to her growth plates. She has been on it for 2 weeks and she isn't really any better. She eats, drinks, and plays, but she is still has a runny nose and a cough (which I think is from her runny nose draining down her throat) but it isn't as bad as when she first got sick. Last week the vet said her lungs are clear and for her to take Baytril for one more week. I am concerned about this side-effect. I would like to know if anyone has ever had a problem with this antibiotic.

The person to ask is your Vet - it is entirely possible that she needs Baytril for another week in order to make certain that it has worked. It's the same with many human medications - useless unless you take the full dosage for the full prescribed time.

Don't get me wrong. I still give it to her. I just didn't understand what the vet meant by "problems" with her growth plate.

Probably serious side effects can cause that. If you're uncomfortable with giving your dog that big of an antibiotic then talk to your vet. Baytril is one of the biggest antibiotic on the line. And to be honest the only thing antibiotics do for kennel cough is to keep infection at bay. They don't get rid of the symptoms
