I have a boss (who is the owner of our company). First, I believe he may be using drugs. He is literally up at all hours of the night e-mailing and calling us, and then is awake all day long as well. Whenever he is around, he berates everyone for hours (and I mean HOURS! Once he yelled for 9 hours straight). He is every up and down and his behaviors are strange and erratic.

Today he crossed the line. He took our company out to lunch so that we could have an "open discussion" and "lay our concerns on the table". From the second we all walked in, it was an attack. He yelled at us for 3 hours in public and refused to listen to anyone speak. He humiliated one of my co-workers by basically making him beg for his job in front of everyone. He then took that same employee outside after the "meeting" was over and got in his face and screamed that he wanted to "ing kill him" and "ing kick his ". The man actually started crying and our boss told him to "stop crying like a ing ". He then started screaming in paranoia about another employee that he is convinced is trying to rob him and said he was going to "ing screw him over".

I can't find anything online like this. I don't even know if there is anything we can do. There is no one else to report to since he is the owner. We would all quit if the economy wasn't so bad. What steps can we take?? HELP!

Find a new job comes to mind?

You can file a harassment complaint with the EEOC and discuss with them if they feel there is enough for a law suit.

Of course after you do, still be looking for that other job.

The boss sounds pathetic and in fact does sound like he is on drugs.

I'd hope that you and all his other employees are hastily looking for new jobs. This man will not change his "ways" as he is too high to see what is going on.

Does this man have any interactions with his customers at all? Probably not, or they would boycott him and his company being treated like that.

If you complain to any kind of authorities about him you will definitely be in the unemployment line and more than likely the employer will deny you collecting a dime.

Your boss screamed at you in a public place for three hours straight and nobody called the police, especially the owner of the facility where you were dining? Where are you located that this type of behavior is tolerated in a public setting?

And as pointed out already, a new job is your only option. Whether you quit or report this man, the company is not going to be in your future.
