My 6 year old tells me her heart hurts. I don't understand?? She's 6 years old, what could it be? The doctors think its heartburn. I don't... any suggestions??

Have they checked to see if there's anything wrong? Could it be any other chest pain? Like, is she having trouble breathing? Is it possible she just wants attention? Have you tried giving her anything, like tums, when she complains of the pain?

All 4 of my children went through that stage. With mine is was just gas bubbles.

Been here before. My daughter was notorious for the "my heart hurts" and "My hair hurts" complaints. Yes, her hair.

The heart turned out to be indigestion, ginger ale and it was all good. The hair, well, I would put her hair in pig tails and braids a lot. If you've ever had long hair, wore a pony tail all day and then took it out, you, it can tingle, even hurt.

I would get this checked out just to rule out anything serious, but sounds to me like she's just a typical 6 year old. :)

I agree, mine did the same. 'my head hurts' could mean, I want attention, I'm hungry, I don't want to go to school tomorrow, pretty much anything.

As long as it works, it will likely be repeated until the expected response changes.

I'd make light of it, and not talk it out, or give more attention that is necessary, try not to reinforce it. Instead have 'special' ginger ale in the fridge just for her. When her head hurts, give her a small amount, and leave it at that.

I agree with Alty to check it out if the headaches don't stop, and keep an eye to see if she's squinting to see the TV or when you read a book with her. Maybe get her eyes checked too.
