My mother adopted my daughter when I was 19, I'm 25 now and on solid ground. My daughter will be 8 in July and wants to live with me. My mother and I are both ready and willing to make this happen but they live in New Jersey and I live in Ohio. How can we go about having me adopt my daughter back in the 2 states?

You'll probably need to get a lawyer to do this.

The fact that everyone is willing is going to make it much easier, but there's no way I would EVER do an adoption without a lawyer.

Does she have full coustody?

If not you should be able to just move your daughter out to see you.

If she does then you need to get into contact with a lawyer.

First, this thread is several months old.

Second, your advice is not legally sound. Custody has nothing to do with this--her mother adopted her child. Legally, this child is her sister, not her daughter.

The OP needs to actually RE-adopt her daughter.

This isn't a custody agreement--this is the legalities of adoption.
